The most frequently asked questions and answers regarding dental implants
Who can I turn to if I think dental implants are the solution for me?
When we talk about dental implants and implantation, the most obvious is to ask your own dentist who you trust the most and who probably knows you well. After that is the physician’s responsibility to direct you to the right place. After you consult with the recommended dental implant specialist, it is up to you to decide whether or not to continue with this dentist.
You need to know about your doctor’s duties and responsibilities
The implantologist should fully examine your teeth to get a clear picture of the tooth and gum condition and the availability of adequate bone for the implants. The dentist must explain all this in plain English and answer any questions you may have, according to their best knowledge about dental implants and dental implantation.
How can you decide if a dentist is suitable for dental implantation?
Dentists, in general, are able to fully handle the dental problems that occur, but they may not be able to handle dental implants. This is because dental implantation requires special knowledge and practice. Therefore, you should ask specifically whether your dentist is capable of doing this kind of treatment. If the answer is yes, you should also ask how much experience they have in this field.
What do I need to know before getting dental implants?
First of all, your implantologist needs to explain what kind of implants and what kind of implantation methods are available and especially which one is suitable and recommended for you. For your information, there are two common implantation methods: one-phase immediate loading implants and two-phase conventional implants and implantation methods. You can learn more about the major differences between the two implantation types that can be found on this page.
Is it true that dental implantation based dentures can be ready in just 3-5 days?
Yes, it is true. Using the earlier mentioned one-phase, Immediate Loading implants and implantation method, 95% of the patients can have their dentures in just 3-5 days. This solution not only has the advantage of quickness but can be used for those who have a bone deficiency. This is not typical of conventional two-phase implants and implantation.
Another huge advantage is that it is only one process and so, not necessary the gum incision again when getting the permanent denture(s). The one-phase implant is simply screwed through the gums without incision after the implantologist drilled a hole in the jaw bone. The thread required for screwing is cut into the bone by the implant itself, so it is extremely strong and can hold the denture glued to it securely.
Are there dentists who do both preserving dentistry and dental implantation?
Of course, they exist. However, we are of the opinion that you should rather choose dentistry that specializes specifically in one-phase immediate loading implants. Just like we go to a brand store because we rightly assume that we get a high quality, original product there. Those who, like us, specialize exclusively in one-phase implants, inherently have more knowledge, more practice, than those for whom implantation is not their main profile.
