Let me explain at the outset that the term one-phase is another name for an implant that can be loaded immediately. In other words, immediate loading implant. In this writing, the two names are used interchangeably, but in both cases, it means the same implant and implantation method.

To put it very simply, a dental implant is nothing but an artificial tooth root used to replace the natural tooth root. It is made of fabric-friendly, high-grade titanium alloy. There are different types of dental implants for one purpose only: the replacement of the natural tooth root. There are basically two main types of implants and implantation methods. One is the conventional two-phase implant, the other is the one-phase implant, also known as immediate loading implants. What is an immediate loading implant?
This type of implant and implantation method got its name by the fact that implantation and denture preparation is done in one phase, unlike a traditional two-phase implant. One of the most tangible results of this is that the time taken for a denture is a lot shorter than you think. Not all the same that a denture will be completed in a few days or months!

One-phase dental implants are also different from traditional multi-piece implants in that they consist of only one single piece! This has huge additional benefits for the patient as it is cheaper, easier to implant it, and so on. Since a one-phase implant is a one-piece implant, it can be made in a variety of shapes and forms to suit particular requirements. The best example of this is when the implant head is at an angle to the screw portion so that it can be implanted not only vertically, but also obliquely in the tooth bone.

What is the difference between implantation under local anesthesia and general anesthesia?
First of all, it should be stated that implantation of one-phase implants does not necessarily require general anesthesia! In the vast majority of cases, local anesthesia is perfectly adequate. At the same time, there are those who terribly afraid of dental intervention and so not being able to cooperate with the oral surgeon as expected. The one-phase dental implants implantation process
As mentioned in the previous paragraph, it is easier to implant a one-phase implant. This is indeed the case, as there is no need for incision of the entire gingiva and subsequent suturing after implantation. One-phase implantation begins with a panoramic X-ray since it is extremely important for the implantologist to get an accurate picture of the condition of the jaw, the quantity, and the quality of the jawbone.

In the next step, the implantologist will plan exactly where, how many implants, and at what angle must implant. The implantologist has to be accurate on that because the implants have to be sufficiently stable to perform their function, which is nothing more than a stable fixation of the denture. Once the number and type of implants to be implanted have been determined, local anesthesia is performed according to the patient's sensitivity.

As mentioned above, the implantation of a one-phase implant does not require a gingival incision. On the predetermined point, the implantologist drills a hole with a diameter corresponding to the size of the implant that will be implanted through the gum into the jawbone, at a predetermined point. This is a completely invasive surgical procedure since the penetration to the bone tissue happens only at a tiny point of the gum tissue. The implantologist then screws the implant into the hole drilled into the bone tissue so that it cuts the thread itself into the bone. This method achieves the highest tissue adhesion between the implant and the bone, further providing the implant with the greatest stability.

Implantation in this way is much gentler than any other oral surgery, including two-phase implantation. Since the one-phase, immediate loading implants can be loaded immediately, the denture-making process can start right after the implantation process. With this method, complete oral rehabilitation, meaning complete upper and lower denture, is completed in less than 5 days! Dentures fixed on one-phase implants provide perfect biting and chewing power, as well as an extremely beneficial facial appearance.

What are the definite benefits of one-phase dental implants?
The use of Immediate Loading Implants has a number of benefits when compared to another common implant method, the traditional two-phase implants. In addition to its benefits, it has one known drawback, its cost. it is mostly due to the high cost of implants being used. And for that reason, this otherwise perfect method inaccessible to many.

Perhaps the most important benefit of immediate loading implants is the speed. As mentioned above, complete oral rehabilitation is completed in a few days and this itself is an extraordinary value. It is hardly comparable to the other most common method, the traditional two-phase implant, as it takes 3-6 months to make the dentures with them. Another great benefit of one-phase dental implants that they can be a solution for those with significant bone deficiency!! This occurs especially to those aged 45-50 and above who are most in need of complete dentures. A biphasic implant can only be implanted if there are a sufficient amount and quality of bone available. With one-phase implants, this problem can be overcome in most cases.
