How to avoid dental bone grafting, if you want an implant-based denture
Avoid dental bone grafting, a surgical procedure that involves the replacement of bone with either artificial bone replacement material or using its bone tissue. This article only talks about essential features of bone replacement, when and why you may need it, and finally, how they do it.
While missing one or more teeth, dental implant surgery comes into the picture. The tooth roots are replaced with metal screw-like posts that replace the damaged or missing teeth. They look and function exactly like the real ones. Generally speaking, dental implantation is only possible if there are adequate quality and quantity of bone in the jawbone.
Before dental implantation, in some cases may be necessary to do a dental bone grafting procedure. It usually comes into the picture before the implantation if the jawbone is too thin or soft, or if there isn't enough healthy bone to withhold the implant in its current state. While chewing, there is significant pressure on the bone. The bone in turn supports the implant. If the bone is not solid and dense enough to do so, the surgery might fail.
While losing teeth as adults, you lose a part of the bone in the jaw surrounding the tooth. Bone loss can make it challenging to restore the tooth with a dental implant. But people feel that they cannot avoid dental bone grafting, which is expensive and time-consuming to recover. It is true, but there are cases where there is simply no alternative.
However, one needs in a tooth extraction case; first, remove the teeth and then fill them with bone grafting materials. It helps in limiting bone loss during gum healing. If the tooth is missing for a while and the remaining bone is insufficient, you can't avoid dental bone grafting.
There is another scenario in the back of the upper jaw, if the bone is insufficient vertically, mostly use the sinus cavity to pace the bone graft. With this method, implantation becomes possible.
One more important thing to note is that if you have a bone deficiency and you want to have a two-phase implant can't avoid dental bone grafting. At the same time, it is not necessary in case of immediate loading implants! That is one of the great benefits of this type of implantation. It is a way to restore the bone and permanently restore the missing teeth.
The grafting procedure depends upon the area in the mouth and the degree of bone loss. A section of bone is taken from another area of the body and placed into the jaw bone in one solution. The eroding new strong bone takes a few months to become solid and stable.
After the dental bone grafting surgery will feel a little discomfort. Prescribed medications need to take on time. Ice can be applied repeatedly for a couple of days if face swelling occurs after the treatment. That will help stop the bleeding, stimulate the healing process, and reduce the chances of bone graft failure, which can cause the loss of dental implants. Remember that if the implantation happens with a one-phase implant, you can avoid dental bone grafting in most cases.
