Whatever the reason, losing our teeth, it can cause serious trauma. The most modern solution to replace missing teeth is implantation, in other words, teeth fixed on dental implants. Various implantation techniques have undergone significant development in recent years. There are two common implantation methods at the time of this writing, one is a one-phase, immediate loading implants and the other is conventional two-phase implants.
WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THE MISSING TEETH IS NOT REPLACED?
Missing a tooth has a much more detrimental effect than you might think at first. Procrastination replacing missing teeth for many years can have serious health risks.
These are the follow:
· Intact teeth can move in the direction of deficiency, causing them to fall out because their roots lose stability.
· Bite strength and tooth chewing power may significantly reduce.
· The gums may become inflamed
· Inadequately chewed food can cause digestive problems, reflux or acidification, even ulcer!
· The jaw is not loaded, so the bone can become thinner and weaken significantly.
· The jaw joint can also become inflamed.
· The muscles of the face and neck may deform.
HOW TO AVOID THIS NIGHTMARE?
The answer is simple! To avoid all of these, the missing teeth must be replaced. There are basically two types of options to choose from. One is the bridge, for which you have to sacrifice 2 of your healthy teeth next to the missing tooth as the bridge is built on them by grinding them. The other option is to opt for a much more stable, durable, and a lot more aesthetic solution. These are the two-phase implants to replace missing teeth.
WHY DO WE RECOMMEND DENTAL IMPLANTS?
o If only one or two teeth are missing, there is no need to grinding the intact teeth to hold the bridge as pillars.
o It can be performed at any age after bone growth is complete.
o More than 98% of dental implantation is successful.
o Timely implantation avoids bone loss due to tooth loss.
o If the bone stock is not sufficient for successful implantation, bone replacement is possible with a relatively simple procedure.
o The implantation is low risk since the two-phase implants’ method has been preceded by decades of clinical trials.
o Implant placement is completely painless due to local anesthesia.
o You will have a new, stable tooth/denture in 3-6 months.
o Teeth fixed on implanted dental implants fit perfectly with the original teeth in both color and shape.
o You can regain your previous bite strength and chewing ability.
o The load on your own existing teeth will not be disproportionate. Any replacement can be made for dental implants, not only a solo crown but also a dental bridge or complete denture.
o The dental implant is durable and strong - it is able to be fixed in the bone stably like the original teeth.
o With proper oral hygiene and care, a lifelong link is created between the artificial tooth root and the bone.
From the first part of the article, we learned why and to whom dental implants can be recommended. In Part 2, we will learn about the process and duration of implantation of two-phase implants as well as answer the question of who should not be implanted.
