BENEFITS OF DENTAL IMPLANTS – IS IT WORTH CHOOSING IT? (PART 1)

There are major benefits of dental implants you may not know about it

You might have already heard about dental implants, but do you know everything about all the benefits of dental implants? Do you know what is the difference between one-phase and two-phase implants? Do you know the exact meaning of immediate loading implants? The dental implant is the most significant dental achievement of the last 50 years, which has greatly improved the quality of life for millions of people. Among the methods of restoring healthy teeth, dental implants are gradually gaining an advantage over other traditional procedures. In time, t's been proven that dental implants are very effective in both practically and aesthetically. The only "negative" about implants is that the price is quite high. The cost of implant dentures is increased by the implants themselves, as they are made of high-purity titanium alloy, and this metal is certainly very expensive.

When we talk about the benefits of dental implants, it is important to know that nowadays there are two types of implants and implantation methods widespread. One is the traditional two-phase implant, the other is the single-phase, in other words, immediate loading implants. Although in essentially both cases it's an artificial tooth root, yet there are great differences between the two implants and implantation methods. Before you decide that you want a denture with implants, you need to know exactly the different characteristics of the two implants in order to make the right decision.

So, in the area of benefits of dental implants, we have learned so far that dental implants provide incomparably better results than traditional removable, adhesive prostheses. We also know that there are two common types and types of implants: one-phase and two-phase implants. Now let’s take a look at the characteristics of the two implants, the positive and negative aspects.

Benefits of conventional two-phase implants and implantation methodIt is the oldest and most widespread implantation method in the world. Using it is a safe way to replace missing teeth with good results. Since these implants are usually shorter, they require specifically good quality bone tissue to provide a stable foundation for the teeth. This also means that whoever clings to this type of implant and his or her bone is inadequate is most likely would need bone grafting. This is why two-phase implants implantation is only possible after careful examination and preparation.

As the name implies, this type of implantation takes place in two phases, which makes the completion of the denture quite time-consuming and definitely increases the cost as well. Another negative is that, unlike a single-phase implant, it is a multi-part implant, which may also rising the cost. The procedure consists of two main phases, which are divided into further phases.
The first phase begins with a panoramic X-ray and a thorough examination to determine the overall health of the mouth and the adequacy of the quantity and quality of the jawbone. If all is well, and if it is necessary, the first step is the removal of the teeth that are not suitable for dental treatment. The oral surgeon then makes preparation for the implantation of the two-phase implants, which begins with the release of the bone by an incision of the gum.

The duration of the implantation itself depends on the number of implants to be implanted and partly on their position. Once the required number of implants have been implanted, the oral surgeon closes the implanted implants with so-called healing screws and sutures the gum back over them. Next sampling has to be done to make the temporary denture. Finally, the temporary denture will be tested, and if all OK the temporary denture(s) are handed over.

This is followed by a so-called ossification and healing period of 3-6 months, during which the patient uses his temporary dentures.
After the ossification time, the second phase follows, which begins with an X-ray and a thorough re-examination. If all implants are OK, the oral surgeon will incise the gum again to gain access to the implants. It removes the previously inserted healing screws and inserts the so-called "abutments" that connecting the implants to the crown or denture. The sampling and denture are then prepared and glued in the usual way. In terms of the benefits of dental implants, two-phase implants are almost identical to the benefits of one-phase implants.

In the second part of the article, we briefly review the content of the first part, and then, in connection with the benefits of dental implants topic, we discuss single-phase, immediately loadable implants. As we will see, apart from the end goal, these implants and the course of the implantation itself are significantly different from the two-phase.
